My name is Sensei Gregg Stevenson and I am the owner and chief instructor of East Coast Karate in Saint James.

I began my journey in martial arts at American Olympic Karate in Hicksville NY, earning a Black Belt in June of 1984. I have been teaching martial arts since 1980; empowering thousands of students with self-defense skills and self-confidence that has lasted a lifetime.

I was a Suffolk County police officer for over 20 years. During my career, I was assigned as a School Resource Officer which allowed me to work within many different school districts. I was able to teach students of all ages personal safety and drug prevention. With my experience as a police officer, along with four decades of teaching karate, I am able to pass on the ultimate in personal safety and life savings skills to all my students.

When I am not teaching martial arts I like to spend time with my family and my five sons.
